Paper

A recyclable product with a positive impact.

The papers we use are sourced from Germany and Finland, and adhere to some of the tightest environmental standards in the world. The text paper is made from 100% recycled post consumer waste, and both are FSC, PEFC, and EU Eco Label accredited.

For paper production trees are an essential raw material, and one that benefits the planet. Trees capture carbon, produce oxygen, and are vitally important for biodiversity.

The European paper industry is a huge contributor to the growth in the number of trees we have to absorb C02. In fact between 2005 and 2020 European forests increased by an area larger than Switzerland.

Carbon Balancing

Helping to fight climate change.

This paper has also been carbon balanced through World Land Trust.

In the words of WLT Patron, Sir David Attenborough “The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of”.
To date, with World Land Trust we have offset
0
Kgs
of co2
which protects
0
m2
of threatened tropical habitats in Vietnam, Mexico and Ecuador. Find out more
Our print production Agency has also committed to Terra Carta, as part of HRH The Prince of Wales Sustainable Markets Initiative. It is a charter of ambitious and practical action to help the private sector accelerate their progress towards a sustainable future.

Printing

Environmental pedigree

Our printer has an outstanding environmental pedigree. They use vegetable based inks and hold a wide range of certifications and awards that go above and beyond the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001).

Recycling

What happens next...

74% of all paper in Europe is recycled, pretty impressive when you consider how many printed items are kept for long periods of time (books), archived or destroyed (tissue and hygiene papers). Paper can be recycled up to 8 times and then has uses in agriculture, horticulture and biomass energy creation - a great circular story.

Nkuku

We consciously work with sustainable and natural materials with a focus on traditional methods of production, and this shapes our collections. We assess the sustainability of our products based on the raw materials used to create them and the process in which they are made. We are careful to work with natural materials and eco crops including hemp and jute. These are sustainable crops that grow with little need for pesticides and crops with a sustainable lifecycle of regeneration. We also work with sustainably grown rattan, corn husk and water hyacinth. We choose to work with sustainable mango wood, this makes use of a harvested crop allowing space for replanting. We are committed to developing new products that incorporate other eco-friendly materials taking into account our impact on the planet and future generations.
